I wasn’t quite sure if I was at a music show, burlesque night, pride parade or somehow I ended up in the middle of Hitchcock meets Rocky Horror Picture Show… The lighting was film-noir-hacksaw and the theatrics made me wonder when Tim Currie was going to pop out behind the drum kit.
But no, it was just a usual drill for Jake Shears and his partner in Diva crime, Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters. Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing *usual* about it; this glam-pop duo showed us the ropes, belting out power track after track of their newest album, Magic Hour. A long anticipated show meant the crowd was hyped enough- (we had to duck two drinks and a scantily clad drunk girl over the barricade before the 
show had even started). But once begun, they lit the wildfire that engorged the place into dance party madness! A group that has been called “the best pop act in the world” showed us they are back, with a vengeance. Mid show, Ms. Matronic exclaimed how great it was to be back on stage… well, I would hasten to say, Ana, you were probably born there.
