The horror was thick at recently at Fortune Sound Club when this Australian super group hit the stage. Miami Horror bludgeoned us with their funky beats, then danced around in the bloody aftermath. If the whole scene had not been so disco-chic and musically rich then we may have had trouble forgiving them.
Their sound is somewhat of a disco-house throw back, but they are also reinventing the wheel by keeping on the cutting edge of electro-pop and current. This melange creates a sound that is strangely familiar and massive likeable. And, as to be expected, these guys know how to party!
The energy was high, particularly with singer/guitarist Moriarity, who murdered the crowd with his hungry vigor. He was relentless and spastic, jumping from drum kit to stage and waiving his guitar around like a flag for his funkiness. And the kids lapped up the madness and danced down to their last droplet of sweat. The scene was beautifully gruesome and sent us smiling and boogieing in to the afterlife.
