xx14PRO’s & CON’s : The XX….

The XX at the Commodore, Vancouver, Tuesday April 13th…

img_0039largepro: singer Madley Croft has a voice even more beautiful in real life

con: she probably barely moved a body part one inch the entire show

pro: the music was so tight it was just as good as everything on the album, and sounded exactly the same!

con: they didn’t play anything differently the exactly what is on their album (why did I pay for this?)

pro: Smith injected thick beats and mixes to tight, tight strings from Croft and Sim; they had a fantastic collective resonate sound!

con: when they played Fantasy the bass resonated me right in to some bleeding eardrums (maybe just a little XX-ive..yuk yuk!)

pro: probably interesting visually if you had some halucingenics (any Floyd fans in the house?)

img_0047largecon: I didn’t have any… otherwise it was just a lotta lights, a little swaying, and a nil on stage presence

pro: Sim told us it “is a very special show” because it’s the first Vancouver headliner for them

con: this was the only moment any of them even acknowledged that there was a crowd

pro: they had a giant X and some little lit up X’s

con: they had a one song encore followed by a playing a recording of one of their songs while we just stood around confused… does this mean it’s over?

to sum up….

The XX, awesome music, tight group, amazing live sound as good, or even better then the album. Plus, they can clearly do it in their sleep (and they just might!)

If you are going to the show, come prepared with:

**some ear plugs, a bag of barbiturates, some introspectiveness, or maybe somebody to make out with.

Leave at home:

**a set of underwear to throw on stage, something you hoped to have signed, a screaming Beatles groupie attitude, your energy and your dancing shoes.
